An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Healthy Homes Service provided by the Housing Standards Team.
The role of Healthy Homes Community Worker provides essential support to a range of vulnerable tenants and homes owners often living in poor housing conditions in the private sector. You will work in a wider team of officers to improve both housing conditions and health outcomes associated with poor housing, neighbourhood or other problems that are impacting on a households health or wellbeing.
The role demands excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, an ability to empathise with people's circumstances and a willingness to work with a range of agencies, including the voluntary sector and help people. The role involves extensive home visits or phone contact* and a desire to find innovative solutions to resolve problems.
You will ideally have experience of previous multiagency working/networking, be a problem solver, be a good communicator and understand the linkages between housing condition and health outcomes. You should be educated to at least GCSE level or equivalent and be confident in using a computer. This post is for a fixed term of 12 months, although the opportunity may arise to renew the contract subject to performance and funding.

This position will initially, in line with current government guidance be based from home. In future, the Council will be moving to a hybrid of working arrangements for many of our roles with a combination of homeworking, office and site working as required.
