Wirral is home to vibrant, energetic and engaged communities, people who take real ownership of their local area and are passionate about making Wirral a better place. The council and its partners have pledged to #BeTheDifference.

We’ve got ambitious targets to meet by 2025. To achieve everything we have promised to our residents, we need people who are driven and ready to deliver the very best for our communities - #BeTheDifference.

The Council is required, under its statutory duty as local highway authority, to maintain all highways which are under its control.  The Highways Inspector is a key role in delivering that duty through inspections, identifying maintenance needs, monitoring of contractors and other third parties such as developers and liaison with all highway users including the public, as well as Council Members.

We are looking for someone who has experience of dealing with contractors working in a highway environment.

Above all you will be looking to engage with our employees/residents/customers to ensure they are at the heart of everything we do.

If the successful candidate does not meet all the qualifications set out in the essential criteria, then these qualifications must be obtained within an agreed timescale.

This position will initially, in line with current government guidance be based from home. In future, the Council will be moving to a hybrid of working arrangements for many of our roles with a combination of homeworking, office and site working as required

Should you wish to discuss informally, please contact Linda Summers on email lindasummers@wirral.gov.uk
