Operational Lead Assessment and Intervention

Wirral is a great place to work. We are a supportive and nurturing council, committed to developing and progressing our social care workforce so that they can achieve their ambition and thrive.

Wirral's children and young people are at the heart of everything we do. We want to make Wirral great for children and their families and we want the right leaders and managers who can help #bethedifference.

We are introducing a key role of operational lead within our Assessment and Intervention Service.

We are looking for an exceptional candidate who has the skills, knowledge, and experience to work with our teams, managers, and heads of service in driving quality practice, leading and implementing innovation and embedding the values and behaviours we expect in Wirral.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to strengthen the offer of support provided to young people and families, providing key leadership and management over a fast-paced and enthusiastic social care workforce.

As operational lead for our Assessment and Intervention Service you will lead managers and practitioners who work with our vulnerable children and families from assessment through to a final permanency plan.  The service is currently dividend into court/child protection/child looked after teams and assessment/child in need teams

With key responsibility for the operational activities, you lead, support, and develop your team(s) to deliver a high-quality Social Work service which ensures adherence to statutory requirements whilst maintaining a clear focus on good outcomes for the children, young people and families.

Wirral will offer you access to a range of learning and development opportunities, including those provided directly by our professional and dedicated Practice Improvement Team.

As an organisation, we do not just offer a competitive salary but a host of additional benefits which mean that our employees thrive working here. You will become integrated into our collective family, involved in a programme of thought-provoking and relevant staff engagement events, led by visible leaders and managers. You will have access to a range of wellbeing support, tailored to your needs and responsive to the challenging and difficult circumstances you encounter.

For more information please contact Alexsandra Kaitell - 0151 666 4249.

Interviews are planned for week commencing 26th July 2021.

This position will initially, in line with current government guidance be based from home. In future, the Council will be moving to a hybrid of working arrangements for many of our roles with a combination of homeworking, office and site working as required.
